Lady Gaga addresses Wednesday season 2 casting, teases ‘amazing time’ with Jenna Ortega,Gaga tells EW she’s excited to reveal her character details for season 2 of Ortega’s Netflix horror comedy

With song titles like “Zombieboy” and “The Beast,” Lady Gaga is clearly diving back into the realm of the dark-sided fame monster on her new album Mayhem. But, as she tells Entertainment Weekly, she’s also primed to get spooky, ooky, kooky, and creepy with Jenna Ortega on Wednesday season 2.

After EW broke news in November that Gaga joined Wednesday season 2 in an undisclosed role on Netflix’s Addams Family-inspired series, the 38-year-old pop icon addresses her casting in a new video interview (above) about her latest album.

“I don’t want to give away anything about being part of the show,” Gaga tells EW, confirming that she’s part of the program following our initial report. “I want to keep it extra secret — but, I love Jenna, and I really had an amazing time!”

Ortega first fronted the series in 2022, with the show garnering a huge following for its story about the titular character, Wednesday Addams, across her early years as a school student and a budding psychic. Other stars who’ve worked on the project include Gwendoline Christie, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and 1991 Addams Family movie actress Christina Ricci.

Ortega previously said at the Golden Globes in January 2023 that she wanted Gaga to join season 2 of the show, and even spoke about storyline she envisioned for Mother Monster.

“I’m sure Netflix would love that,” Ortega told Variety at the time. “I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other.”

Ortega and Gaga’s pop culture paths also crossed in the recent past with relation to Wednesday, when Gaga’s 2011 song “Bloody Mary” went viral after Wednesday fans edited the song together with a clip of Ortega dancing in the hit Netflix show. As a result, the song, which wasn’t released as an official single from its parent album, Born This Way, eventually climbed the contemporary charts at the end of 2022, eventually peaking at No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100
